On August 3, 2007 the 75th Anniversary celebration of ministry at Camp Wyoba was held on Casper Mountain. The milestone celebration constituted this year’s Wyoming Cluster gathering.
The celebration started Friday evening with dinner. The dining hall then filled with joy and laughter as the alumni campers talked about their memories of camp and the things going on in their lives today. Many played catchup with long lost friends.

The traditional campfire was the highlight of Friday evening. Campers sat around the fire and sang classic camp songs. Since there were multiple generations of campers around that fire, they introduced themselves to one another and shared memories once again. The sharing continued with stories about the dining hall and chapel falling down during the heavy snow, capture the flag, and spiritual renewal. Carol Willard reminded the group to think of the “cloud of witnesses” that was sitting around that fire with them.

On Saturday morning after breakfast, the group gathered later for a hike around the property. Deanna Dyer led the hike and stopped to tell of the history behind each area through which the group traveled. They walked to Merrifield Meadow and stopped at the old miner’s cabin and then moved on to the “new” campfire circle, which is actually
25 years old. From there, a smaller portion of the group finished the hike up to the Galles property to see the
spring house.

After lunch on Saturday afternoon, some of the celebrants went to the basketball court to play and some headed up to the athletic field to play volleyball. After a refreshing visit to the snack shack, the group gathered in the chapel for a worship service before leaving Casper Mountain. Barbee Stanfield led the service where verses were read and memories were shared. The service ended with communion, just as many camp experiences had ended in the past.

As people left, however, their thoughts were on the years ahead and the blessings available to anyone seeking a “mountain top experience” at Camp Wyoba. Happy 75th–Wyoba!
