“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and the power of his might.” Ephesians 6:10.

I have learned that God places the right people in our lives at precisely the right time. I have been blessed and have benefitted from the prayers, support and concern that you showered me with during my medical leave.

It is an honor and a privilege to be connected with brothers and sisters in Christ who share a common bond and rejoice with those who are rejoicing and mourn with those who are mourning. Your encouragement was definitely a part of my healing. Thank you.

As you are aware, it is an exciting time in the Kingdom of God as we press toward the mark. Following are a few highlights from the many opportunities I have had over the past year to answer the call of obedience and serve wherever and whenever I could. Included are brief summaries of activities for my assigned Clusters.

Gospel on the Green
Steve Van Ostran and I were co-emcees at the annual outdoor gospel concert presented by True Light Baptist Church. As in past years, the event was extremely well-attended. The performers were second-to-none and the guests worshipped and praised God as if heaven had opened the gates of eternity. Bill Golson, Benita Edwards and the staff of True Light exemplified excellence as gracious hosts, yet did not compromise the focus of the event. We praise and honor God for the souls that were saved and the lives that were transformed.

Prayer Workshop
I facilitated a prayer workshop for True Light Baptist Church where more than 25 members of the prayer team studied the theme: “Prayer, Preparation and Purpose.” The prayer team was refreshed, revived and restored after discussing and meditating on the topic. The workshop resulted in the team feeling more prepared and energized to continue fulfilling their task as intercessors.

Northern Front Range Cluster
I am excited to be the congregational coach for the Northern Front Range Cluster as we build relationships and labor together as called servants of God. I will continue to offer my assistance to the pastors and churches in the Cluster.

Curtis Park Community Center

Although there have been many new developments around the Region, we are saddened to report that Curtis Park community Center — a mainstay for many families in the metropolitan Denver area for nearly 70 years — is nearing the end of its lifespan. With the help of grants, volunteers and other organizations, Curtis Park currently runs a strong food and clothing bank that is planned to be terminated.

Hope Communities will purchase the Curtis Park property and expand its mission. Hope Communities was founded 28 years ago by a group of evangelical churches. Please join us in prayer that the community and families that were served by Curtis Park and the board and staff of Curtis Park and Hope Communities will all find favor in God.

Denver Cluster
The members of the Denver Cluster continue to shape the purpose and vision of the ABC. Each meeting with the pastors and/or churches represented has been designed to motivate Cluster members and provide resources to further the development and accomplish goals of region and the individual churches. Brad Berglund has graciously agreed to host and facilitate a mini-workshop on diversity in worship.

Unity Commission – Colorado Council of Churches
We worked diligently in conjunction with Catharyn Baird to coordinate an ethics workshop to help pastors understand and deal with the tension that can exist among pastors, laypersons and denominational leadership. The personal and faith lens of each person presents a different and sometimes conflicting view. Several pastors from the Denver Cluster attended and reported that they were delighted to receive worthy information and had an opportunity to discuss sensitive topics that are not commonly shared in everyday conversations.

Passing and Receiving the Mantle of Leadership
The search committee of Aurora Hills, Berkeley, Hillcrest, Longmont and Macedonia churches are praying without ceasing and expecting God to appoint a Shepherd to watch over the flock at the assigned and appointed time.

The Mantle has been received by Ambrose Carroll at New Hope Baptist Church, Brian Henderson at Calvary Baptist Church, William Rooks at Abundant Life Baptist Church, David Graves at First Baptist Church (Ft. Lupton), Ray Cook at First Baptist Church (Ft. Morgan), and Steve Van Ostran as Executive Minister of the Rocky Mountain Region.

We embrace and welcome God’s servants into the Rocky Mountain Region faith family.
