••••••• Camp Wyoba Report •••••••

Wyoba has experienced a wonderful year. There have been ups and downs but the upside is much greater than the down. Our God is good . . . all the time.

The Board has been very active, revising job descriptions for Camp Administrator and the Facilities Manager to make the positions more accurately reflect the actual duties, and getting a handle on the financial situation. The committee working together with the Lion’s Camp on the water/sewer met in the spring to discuss the summer season and there were no problems. The water storage tank will need to have further attention and that is currently being pursued with a contractor. The pole barn is completed except for installation of the garage door and that will be installed by the end of August. The state forester has been working closely with the camp to make sure our woodlands are free from pine beetle infestation and the work done last summer made a large difference for Wyoba. This is an ongoing issue, but it is a source of revenue for the camp as the wood can be sold after the year-long covering treatment.

The camping season was incredible and numbers were up at all camps. The only down side was the cancellation of the craft camp, but it is being revamped for next season.

• Primary camp (completed 3rd/4th grades)

o 23 campers (3-day camp)

• Junior camp (completed 5th/6th grades)

o 50 campers (full week camp)

o Several decisions for Christ

• Junior High camp (completed 7th/8th grades)

o 40 campers (full week camp)

o Several decisions for Christ and recommitment of lives to his work.

o Committing to living for him in all aspects of the young people’s lives.

• Senior High camp (completed 9-12 grades)

o 40 campers (full week camp)

o Several decisions for Christ, and a spirit of love and unity

• S.H.A.P.E. Women’s Retreat

o 26 campers (weekend)

o Combining physical and spiritual disciplines for Christ

Each camp completed a work project to make the facilities better. Junior’s sanded picnic tables to prepare them for painting. Junior High painted the Snack Shack and cleaned a cabin used for storage. Senior High built wooden bridges over the creek to cover old cement culverts and made it safer. The young people are a huge help and take ownership in their work.

Nick Nedeau was Camp Administrator and did an outstanding job. Our cooks, Tarah Fink and Sarah Nixon were great and the food comments were nothing but raves. J.R. Elder took on the role of Facilities Manager and continues in that job through the end of September. Nick has had to leave for college Fall Semester in the Northwest.

ABCRM continues to support the ministry of Wyoba in so many ways. Nick worked hand in hand with the office to keep the financial reporting accurate and clear so the information shows the real picture. Bills can be paid through the Casper office which assists in getting work completed, such as payment for supplies needed instead of being required to acquire an account with a vendor.

The Nominating Committee has met and will have a slate of officers ready for the October Board meeting. They will be filling the President and Treasurer positions on the Board. The camp is moving forward and the future looks bright and beautiful. Praise be to the God and Father of us all!
