I know each report begins with an update of the progress in the Academy development. This one will begin the same. We are continuing in our talks with ABSW, in an effort to get some form of certification from them for work done in the Academy. It will not count toward an MDiv but will well serve our purpose of raising the bar for persons who are seeking to meet Regional Ordination recognition. Dr. Paul Martin, President of ABSW, and Dr. Steve Van Ostran have put a great deal into making this happen. I believe that overall the MLC is excited about the possibilities with this program. In light of the progress we are continuing to offer courses throughout the year. Watch the web for courses being held this fall.
Boundaries workshops are being planned which will include one in January or February of 2012. Education in this area is important, for both new pastors and seasoned pastors alike. We also believe the lay leadership of our churches could benefit from this training. Again watch for the date and time of the upcoming offerings.
We are also exploring possibilities for getting CEU’s for certain types of Mission work/study programs/trips. More on this later.
We do want to do the best we can as a committee to better equip our pastors, future pastors and other leaders throughout the region.
