Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” - Isaiah 6:8
To be in the presence of God is an awesome deal, but to be called into his throne room like Isaiah was would be more than words could describe. Isaiah was called into God’s throne room and saw God and all his glory and in an instant Isaiah knew that he was not worthy to be there. He cried out to God for forgiveness and received his forgiveness with the touch of the hot coal to his lips. How painful that must have been for him, but who said that dealing with sin would not be painful? Then our Lord asks the question, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” I don’t think Isaiah’s first thoughts were, “I hope he is not looking at me, or where does he want me to go?” Isaiah said without hesitation, “Here am I. Send me!”
What about us? Where are we when God calls for us to go for him? Do we run and hide or do we say without hesitation, “Here am I. Send Me!”? God has placed us all in our own little spot in the world and asks which one of you will go for me? That’s a tough question to respond to. Think about it for a second. Here is God, the Creator of everything, the Lord who thought of you before you were born, the One who designed you to do great things, our Savior whose love for us is so powerful, is asking us, His children, to go do some incredibly amazing things in His name! What an awesome responsibility He has given and trusted us with.
Let’s take a lesson from Isaiah and cry out to our Heavenly Father for forgiveness of all of our sins, so that we maybe cleansed of all of our wrongdoings. Then in our next breath we should be saying, “Here am I. Send Me!” Watch out now, because he will do just that. He will send you. SO GO!
