Jesus is the Paint

“For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.” – Hebrews 10:4

At one time in my life, I was employed in property management. During this time, one part of my job was to see that houses and or apartments were clan and that walls were painted. There were times when I found walls with purple paint of bad stains. To prepare these units for new renters we needed to repaint, usually with white or light colors.

Have you ever tried to cover dark colors or stains with white paint? It just doesn’t work. Those dark colors or stains just show through no matter how many times you paint or what quality of pain you use. To get the wall white you have to use something to “kill” or remove the stain or old pain. You need some magic formula, and then you can paint and have a clean white wall.

Our lives are like that. 1 John 1:8 “If we say we are without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.” All of us are sinners, no matter how we act or how we dress, or how we try to behave. Our sin will show through just like the stain on the wall. Good works (another coat of paint) will not get rid of our sin. We need a formula to take away or wash away our sins. The formula: The blood of Jesus, to wash away our sins.

Have you asked Him for forgiveness? Try it. 1 John 3:5 says “We know that he was manifested to take away our sins and in him is no sin.” And John 1:29 says “Behold the Lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world.”

Let us pray and ask God to bless us. Our greatest hope is we are a beacon of hope and a place of true worship. May we lead others to Jesus.
