“How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young—a place near your alter. O Lord Almighty, my King and my God. Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you.” Psalm 84:1-4
Every day I go through many stoplights on my way to work. Usually I am running late and dread using precious minutes sitting at a red light. As I pass through those green lights I thank and praise our wonderful Lord for each and every one. I also have to remember when I am sitting at the red light that God has a reason for slowing me down and so I give Him praise for that also.
It is easy to praise our Heavenly Father for the big things in life. The birth of seven healthy grandchildren in eighteen months is a huge praise in my life. I have a wonderful family, a very loving church, an amazing Region Board that works hard, and a job that is very fulfilling. I have all that I could need and I praise God for that each and every day. But, I also praise Him for the blue sky, the rain that falls to replenish the earth, the neighbor that helps out without needing to be asked. These are the little things in life that are hard to notice, so hard that we forget that they all come from God and are worthy of our praise.
We all have so much in our lives that we can be thankful for and praise God for. We tend to take our troubles to Him to solve but we don’t let Him know how thankful we are for all that He gives to us, without hesitation. We need to show those that are questioning and seeking God that He is providing every day and every minute and that He is worthy of our praise and thanksgiving.
We praise and thank you, O Lord. You are the provider of all the events that happen in our lives. The blessings you give us every day, whether they be huge, or whether they be small, we praise you for those blessings. Help us to remember to share those praises with those we come in contact with to help them understand that you are with us constantly and surrounding us with your love and grace. We love you, and thank you. Amen
