The Grand Lady

"She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness." - Proverbs 31:25-26

We hear about this grand lady often. We lift her up as praise to younger women and caution them to heed her example. She is one woman who can be trusted. Shrewd in business, she’s a good wife and manages her household well. Her children arise and call her blessed.

There are many times when I was a young mother that I didn’t know which way to go. I’ve often joked that I didn’t know if I was coming or going with four young children. Many times I felt my decisions were not wise, and especially when those babies became teenagers and hormones raged furiously with hurricane force. I certainly didn’t laugh without fear of the future because most times I was frantically in prayer over some urgent concern.

However, we have this woman to remind us that we are born with a natural ability to juggle. Did the grand lady ever doubt or struggle? Of course, she did. She was after all, only human!

And do we learn to do all those tasks overnight? Of course not, the Lord took this special person by the hand and taught her. She sought his wisdom and strength for each day’s work.

Prayer: Lord, give us your strength for all we have to do today.
