Current Programs
Early Learning Program:
Our childcare program cares for up to 49 children ages six weeks to about six years old. A staff of seven cares for the children from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., providing diapers, clean changes of clothing, breakfast, lunch, and a snack. We accept children on a sliding scale to help out homeless and low-income families.
Emergency Services Program:
The Emergency Services Program distributes food, clothing, and hygiene items to about 600 people a month. Homeless individuals and families count on Curtis Park Community Center to help make ends meet as they look for employment. People in special circumstances, such as an upcoming job interview or new baby, often receive a brand new outfit or layette set provided by White Cross and other organizations. We also serve as a meal site where Senior Citizens and people with disabilities may receive a hot lunch and enjoy fellowship every Monday.
Victim Services Program:
Many people in our neighborhood find themselves victims of a violent crime. We provide referrals, counseling, advocacy, and accompaniment to help them at every step of the way. This often intense and long-term case management is provided to about 15 new people a month.
Holiday Events:
We provide Thanksgiving baskets to the community to help families who can’t provide a holiday meal for themselves. We also host a Santa Shop, with White Cross donations, where parents can come in and choose gifts for their children.
