Reverend Dr. Lee B. Spitzer

General Secretary of American Baptist Churches USA

Since accepting the call to serve as the General Secretary of the American Baptist Churches USA in June 2017, Rev. Dr. Lee B. Spitzer has cast a vision calling for the American Baptist family to unify around the historic Baptist movement’s core convictions and mission, and to enter into a new era of church growth, evangelism, prophetic witness and creative service in cooperation with our national and regional partners. He thoroughly enjoys the ethnic and racial diversity of our American Baptist family, which includes approximately 5,000 churches and 1.3 million members.

Judson Press has published two books by Dr. Spitzer. Making Friends, Making Disciples (2010) explores how relationships impact our lives and the discipleship and evangelism ministries of churches. His newest book, Baptists, Jews and the Holocaust: the Hand of Sincere Friendship (2017), reveals how Baptists in the United States responded to Nazism, antiSemitism and the Holocaust.

Special Performance by the Wil Alston Band

Wil Alston is one of the latest voices to Denver’s jazz scene. Debuting in 2013 to a sellout performance at Lannie’s Clock Tower Cabaret in downtown Denver, Wil brings a velvet smooth baritone voice and delivers classic and contemporary jazz standards with grace and richness. Many know Wil as a veteran marketing/PR professional, but may not know of his love for music and singing. He began singing as a child in Washington, D.C., and for the past two decades, has been a lead vocalist in the music department at one of Denver’s most prominent African American churches – the New Hope Baptist Church.

Prior to his debut solo performance at Lannie’s, Wil spent 'me as a back-up singer for

prominent Denver vocalist Mary Louise Lee.

Today, Wil has assembled a veteran five-piece band made up of some of the area's most acclaimed musicians, and has established that he is as comfortable with only a piano backing him (or a trio) as he is with his full band.

Wil released his debut album in April 2018 titled, Introducing Wil Alston. The freshman record will showcases his ability to interpret classic jazz tunes as well as his ability to contribute original and thoughtful new music to the genre.

Alston's musical influences include: Nat King Cole, Donny Hathaway, Dianne Reeves,

Gregory Porter, Kevin Whalum, Wil Downing, and Kurt Elling.
