Supporting Small Churches with Big Kingdom Impact
Across the Rocky Mountain region, many churches are small, rural, or led by bivocational pastors. These congregations often serve their communities with deep faithfulness and creativity, yet they can also face unique challenges in leadership, resources, and connection.

The Mustard Seed Co-Op exists to support and strengthen these ministries.

Inspired by Jesus’ parable of the mustard seed, this initiative recognizes that some of the most meaningful and impactful ministry begins in small places. The Mustard Seed Co-Op brings together leaders across our region to learn, encourage one another, and advocate for the unique strengths of small church ministry.

Who is this for?

The Mustard Seed Co-Op serves leaders and congregations across the American Baptist Churches of the Rocky Mountains who are engaged in:

Small church ministry
-
Rural church leadership
-
Bivocational pastoral ministry
-
Churches exploring sustainable and creative ministry models

Whether you are a pastor, lay leader, or ministry volunteer, this cooperative exists to support you in the work God has called you to do.

The American Baptist Churches of the Rocky Mountains
-
American Baptist life more broadly
-
The wider church community
Why “Mustard Seed”?
Jesus described the kingdom of God as a mustard seed — something small that grows into something surprisingly strong and life-giving.

In many ways, this reflects the story of countless small churches across our region. While they may not always have large resources or large attendance, they often nurture deep relationships, faithful discipleship, and lasting community impact.

The Mustard Seed Co-Op celebrates and strengthens these ministries.

Leadership
The Mustard Seed Co-Op is being developed under the leadership of Rev. Clint Walker, in partnership with the American Baptist Churches of the Rocky Mountains.
