Experiencing the Power of Divine Dependency

“Give us day by day our daily bread.” Lk. 11:3 (NKJV)

In Luke 11:1-4, we find Jesus praying. After He had finished communing with the Father, one of His disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. I want to focus on verse 3 of Jesus’ divine teaching lesson with His disciples. In verse 3 we find these words, “Give us day by day our daily bread.” Jesus wanted His disciples to learn and trust in the power of the Father to meet their every need every day that they walked after Him. Jesus wanted His disciples and all who surrender their lives to His sovereign care to “Experience the Power of Divine Dependency.”

Each time that His disciples came before the Father in prayer, Jesus wanted them to know:

  1. God would hear their prayers and meet their every need, (Read: Eph. 3:20)

  2. They had “direct access” to the “Throne Room” of God’s presence, (Read: Rom. 5:2)

  3. They had “heirs rights” before God’s face, (Read: Rom. 8:16-17), and;

  4. They could live without “worry and anxiety” as they set their course to advancing the cause and kingdom of Jesus Christ, (Read: Matt. 6:24-34)

Have you arrived at that place in your prayer life and walk with the Lord that you are “Experiencing the Power of Divine Dependency” on a continual basis? If not, Jesus says you can have it by simply asking the Father to give it to you, day by day. (Amen.)

Prayer: Almighty God, we come once again as before Your Holy Presence. We come asking You to help us to surrender all of who we are into Your Holy hands each day that You grant us grace. We ask again this day, that You would breathe now upon us and help us to completely trust You for all that we have need of in both time and eternity, as we strive to live into our faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In Jesus Name We Pray. (Amen.)
